You don’t have to do it alone

You don’t have to do it alone

A polymath is a person of wide knowledge or learning and comes from the Greek for well-learned. A business owner is a polymath by necessity; you have to know everything there is to know about your own business and almost as much about the industry in which you operate. Every day you learn something new, growing your skills and knowledge to be even better at the thing that got you into your field in the first place.

All that learning and growing can be an exhilarating experience, but it can also be lonely. The pace at which an entrepreneur typically works can be exhausting, but the good news is, you don’t have to do it all alone!

Yes, you have to wear lots of hats and be skilled in lots of areas but that doesn’t mean you have to do everything all of the time. In fact, you’re more likely to succeed if you concentrate your limited time and effort on the areas where you can personally make the most impact and delegate everything else to people who are better at those things than you are.

Delegation is all fine and well when you have a team working alongside you, but it is also possible to delegate when you work alone.Outsourcing is a great way to tap into the talent you need and expand the skills you have access to in a way that is flexible, affordable and on your terms.

Every business needs sales, marketing, communications, and training as part of their make-up, no matter what it is they do. It’s impossible for a small business to reach its full potential and achieve the ambitions of its founder/s without these skills, and yet many don’t have them in-house. Instead, small teams (including and perhaps most especially teams of one) are forced to wear many hats trying to do everything themselves, even those things they aren’t good at or don’t enjoy, until they can grow to a point of recruiting those skills should they want to scale that way.

Similarly, third sector organisations need to use these skills to fulfil their missions, but many are deeply reliant upon unpredictable and often highly restricted funding cycles so may never be able to employ a permanent team member, especially at a senior level, in these areas. Partnering with external experts is the perfect solution.

At Progress Partners we partner with our clients to provide the expertise they need in sales, marketing, communications and training, so that you can do more of what only you can do whether that be coaching people, delivering renewable energy solutions, providing mental health support for local people, or something else entirely! Because of the nature of our work and the application of what we do in every organisation, we work with a huge range of clients across Scotland, and occasionally beyond, to help them make the progress they want, at the pace they need, almost always infinitely faster than they could get there alone!
